Tim Southee Creates History

With his knock of 65, Southee scripted history and became only the second number nine or lower batter from across the world in Test cricket history to outscore the opponent's previous innings total. The only other instance of the same happened 122 years ago when Reggie Duff made a century for Australia against England in 1902 at th Oval in the third innings. Before that, England were bowled out just 61 runs in the second innings.
Southee also achieved a huge record with the bat as he went past Virender Sehwag's tally of most sixes in Test cricket history. The 35-year-old has 93 sixes and is the sixth-highest six-hitter in Test cricket history. He is second among active players only behind Ben Stokes (131).
The New Zealand star has made 2180 runs in 103 Tests at an average of 15.91 with a strke-rate of 82.66. Among players with more than 2000 runs in Test cricket, only Ben Duckett has a better strike-rate than Southee.
With the ball, Southee is New Zealand's second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket history with an incredible record of 383 scalps. He is ony behind Richard Hadlee's tally (431).
