Smrti Mandhana Creates History
With her half-century in Vadodara, Mandhana continued her record-breaking year, which has already seen her set the record for the most ODI tons, most runs in international cricket (all formats), and most T20I runs in a calendar year. She added another huge record to her name on Tuesday as she became the first player in history to score 7 50+ scores in a year thrice. Mandhana has previously achieved the same feat in 2018 and 2022 too. Australian cricket legend Belinda Clark achieved the feat twice in 1997 and 2000.
Mandhana has also become the first woman cricketer in history to score 16 50+ scores in international cricket in a calendar year.
The 28-year-old has four centuries and three half-centuries in ODI cricket in 2024. In T20Is, she made eight half-centuries. She also scored a ton against South Africa in Chennai in the sole Test match India played this year.
