  • Kohli made 70 runs in the second innings
  • India are still 125 runs behind New Zealand
India were hit with a crushing blow on the last ball of Day 3 in the first Test against New Zealand at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium as star batter Virat Kohli lost his wicket to Glenn Phillips just when it looked like the hosts had a realistic chance of victory after conceding a 356-run lead in the first innings.
The 35-year-old looked his flawless best as raced to 70 and also completed 9000 runs in Test cricket. With just one ball remaining in the day, the hosts looked confident of going into the fourth day in a strong position. However, Phillips spoiled India's plans as he produced an edge from Kohli's bat which was safely caught by Tom Blundell behind the stumps.
Kohli took a review after a discussion with Sarfaraz Khan with both unsure if the ball took an edge. However, the replays broke Indian hearts as snicko showed a spike from the star Indian batter's bat.
The Indian dressing room was left in shock after the dismissal with skipper Rohit Sharma visibly dejected.
