India defeated England in the first T20I of the five-match series at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, as they got off to a great start. One of the biggest talking points coming into the match was that Mohammed Shami was included in the India squad for the first time since the ODI World Cup 2023 final. However, he did not make his way into the playing XI for the first match. While everyone is still waiting for Shami to return to action, star pacer Arshdeep Singh has dropped a massive hint on when he might return.
In the post-match interview after the first T20I, Arshdeep Singh revealed that Mohammed Shami was bowling like he used to do at his peak, and fans will get to see his magic in just a few more days. He might have just hinted that Shami might make his India return in the 2nd T20I against England on January 25 in Chennai.
"Just yesterday, I was talking about the same thing with Shami Bhai because when he was bowling, the way the ball was coming out of his hand was absolutely amazing. With every delivery, you would say, 'Wow, how can such an incredible ball come out of someone's hand like this!' Just wait for a few more days, and you'll get to see that bowling, and you’ll enjoy it a lot. The way the ball is coming out of his hand makes it look like the 22-year-old Shami Bhai is bowling again," Arshdeep said.
Arshdeep Singh Creates History in 1st T20I
Arshdeep Singh got India off to a bang as he picked up the two early wickets of Phil Salt and Ben Duckett in his first two overs. He thus has 97 wickets in T20I cricket for India. The left-arm pacer has become the highest wicket-taker for India in the shortest format surpassing the tally of Yuzvendra Chahal.
