After replacing Babar Azam in the team and walking out to bat at number four, Kamral Ghulam created history on his Test debut against England at the Multan Cricket Stadium by scoring a century on the first day of play in the second Test of the series.
Ghulam reached the milestone in just 192 balls to put Pakistan on top of the game after they won the toss and chose to bat first. Ghulam walked out to bat with the hosts in trouble at 19-2 after the dismissal of Abudullah Shafique and Shan Masood.
Ghulam helped bring stability to Pakistan's innings with a 149-run partnership with Saim Ayub. Ayub departed after making 77 runs in 160 balls, while Saud Shakeel also failed to leave a mark. However, Ghulam stood tall on the other end and ensured the hosts were set to end the day in a strong position. He made a knock of 118 in 224 balls.

Kamran Ghulam Creates History

Kamran Ghulam became the second Pakistan player after Saleem Malik to score a Test century on debut while batting at number four. Malik had achieved the feat on his debut while playing against Sri Lanka in 1982 at the National Stadium in Karachi.
Overall,Ghulam is only the sixth player in the world to achieve the feat after Nawab of Pataudi (1932), Gundappa Viswanath (1969), Frank Hayes (1973), Saleem Malik (1982), and Animul Islam (2000) .
Ghulam is the 116th player in Test cricket history to score a century on debut but the only the 13th from Pakistan. Previously, Khalid Ibadulla (1964), Javed Miandad (1976), Saleem Malik (1982), Mohammad Wasim (1996), Ali Naqvi (1997), Azhar Mahmood (1997), Younis Khan (2000), Taufeeq Umar (2001), Yasir Hameed (2003), Fawad Alam (2009), Umar Akmal (2009), and Abid Ali (2019) have achieved the feat.
At the age of 29,Ghulam is the second oldest Pakistan player after Abid Ali (32 years) to achieve the feat.
