Prices for domestic flights rose 10.8% in November compared with October, Stats NZ said today.
And the cost of domestic accommodation also rose by 6.9%.
The jump in domestic airfare prices was the highest increase in domestic flight prices since July 2023, the agency said.
"The higher prices for domestic flights coincided with performances by several global artists around New Zealand," Stats NZ spokesperson Nicola Growden explained.
"We also saw increased domestic hotel prices, so the cost of exploring New Zealand has become more expensive."
But anyone looking to travel further afield was in luck.
"International airfares and international accommodation prices decreased 2.7% and 4.6% respectively," the agency said.
Stats NZ also released data on food prices this morning, revealing vegetables were cheaper than last month but vegetables more expensive.
"Monthly food prices fell 0.1% in November 2024 compared with October 2024," the agency found.
"The largest contributor to the fall was vegetables, down 7.9%. This was partly offset by a rise in fruit prices, up 4%.
Growden said it was the third consecutive month that vegetable prices fell and fruit prices rose.
"In November, tomatoes, broccoli, and cucumber were cheaper, while apples, grapes, and kiwifruit pushed up fruit prices," she said.
Overall, fruit and vege prices fell 2.9% last month compared to October.
Prices for boxed chocolates, chocolate biscuits and steak also fell.
"These falls were partly offset by rising prices for cheddar cheese and instant coffee," Stats NZ said.
"Annually, food prices increased 1.3% in the 12 months to November 2024, following a 1.2% increase in the 12 months to October 2024.
"Butter, milk, and olive oil continued to contribute to the annual rise."
