Ace India batter Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja were seen and heard strategising against tormentor-in-chief Travis Head, who smacked a daddy hundred on Sunday, December 15 in the third Test in Brisbane. Australia reached a commanding 405/7 at the stumps courtesy of a 241-run partnership between Head (152 off 160) and Steve Smith (101 off 190) for the fourth wicket after the visitors put them in a spot of bother at 75/3 in the morning.
The Indian bowlers, barring ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, were nowhere near their best and the Aussie batters made full use of the situation and milked runs.
In the viral video, Kohli is seen asking Jadeja to bowl a bit faster and Pant too agrees with the former, suggesting that it might create a chance at the least. Watch the video here:
Although the strategising didn't work at that time, Head eventually fell to Bumrah, but not before he had scored 152 crucial runs for his team. The latter picked five wickets as all the other bowlers struggled to pick any, with Mohammed Siraj and Nitish Reddy bagging one wicket apiece.
Bumrah (5/72), who came up with welcome wickets both in the morning and towards the end of play, was once again the stand-out bowler for the visitors. It was his second five-for of the series and the overall tally stands at 17. Australia pacer Mitchell Starc stands far away at 11.
Head's century came after a match-winning 140 in Adelaide while it was a classical Test innings for Smith, who reached three figures for the first time in 25 knocks, silencing his critics.
While reaching their milestones, Smith now is the international batter with joint most Test centuries (10) against India besides Joe Root followed by Sir Vivian Richards and Sir Garfield Sobers (8 each).
