On Day 2 of the third Test between India and Australia, the hosts had the upper hand, as they continued to slam runs ending the day at 405/7. Travis Head once again proved to be a headache for India as he slammed his second consecutive century of the series. He continued to belt the bowlers as Indian captain Rohit Sharma looked clueless as he could not stop the flow of runs. In between the innings, both Rohit and star fast bowler Mohammed Siraj were slammed by former Australian opener Simon Katich for their tactics against Head.
Travis Head played a ramp shot for four off Mohammed Siraj at the third man region. In his previous over too, Head slammed the same shot. What was surprising was that neither Siraj nor Rohit Sharma put a field in deep third man, even though Siraj bowled a widish short ball to tempt Head to play the same shot. Simon Katich, who was on commentary slammed this move, even going to the extent of calling it 'dumb cricket'.
"That is unbelievable from Mohammed Siraj because the over before he had a man right in at the spot and he has run in and bowled what they were planning without a fielder there. That is dumb. Dumb cricket," Katich said.
Katich did not stop with his scathing remarks, especially when Rohit Sharma put a field in that position after Head had played the shot for a boundary.
"They have two men on the legside, deep point, and a man right at that spot for this plan to Travis Head and then he doesn't have the fielder. Now he is going to put the fielder right there. The horse has bolted buddy," the former Australian star added.
Travis Head went on to slam 152 from 160 balls, while stitching a 241-run stand with Steve Smith, who scored a century himself.
