Rohit Shastri

Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri has assured that Rohit Sharma will not take the series defeat to New Zealand lightly despite the reaction he gave to the media, saying it is allowed in 12 years. A 12-year streak ended in Pune when New Zealand won the three-match series 2-0. After the loss in Pune, Rohit said that having made winning all series at home a habit, it is allowed to lose once in 12 years.
After this comment, Rohit faced a lot of criticism from experts and fans who questioned his captaincy and his current Test form.
Shastri supported Rohit and said that the latter is a proud man and he won't take this defeat lightly.
"Rohit Sharma is a proud man. He will not take it lightly. Let me assure you of that. His body language might suggest that he's very relaxed. But deep down, he'll be hurting and hurting big. Not just with him but with every Indian player in that dressing room," Shastri said while speaking on commentary.
Rohit has only scored 62 runs so far in this series in 4 innings with 1 fifty. His Test form was questioned after the Bangladesh series where he scored only 42 runs in 4 innings as well.
Things haven't gone well in this series either for Rohit. He and his team will be looking to turn the tables at Mumbai and take some momentum before going to Australia for a crucial series Down Under as the race for the World Test Championship finals heats up after New Zealand's back-to-back victory.
"Just because we have lost a series, I don't think there is anything that we need to talk differently or do differently. But yeah, we need to find ways to come out of those situations," Rohit had said after the match.
