Star Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell made a big claim and labelled the Indian cricket star as someone who will finish his career as the the best all-format bowler in cricket history. Maxwell is among the finest white-ball batters to play the sport in the current generation.
Having made his international debut for Australia in 2012 and won two ODI World Cups as well as a T20 World Cup, Maxwell has played against some of the greatest bowlers in the world. The 36-year-old reserved ultimate praise for Jasprit Bumrah and named him as the best bowler he has faced.
“I think the best bowler I would have faced would probably be Bumrah. I think he’s probably going to go down as the best all-format bowler of all time,” said Maxwell in a video with EspnCricinfo.
Glenn Maxwell Reveals What Makes Jasprit Bumrah Great?
Maxwell explained that it is Bumrah's release point that makes him stand out as a bowler while hailing his versatile skillset.
“His release point, because he releases it from so far out in front of himself, almost feels like he can change where he’s bowling right at the last moment. Unbelievable slow ball, great yorker, has the ability to swing it both ways; he’s got a brilliant wrist, and he’s got a good sniff. It feels like he’s got all the tricks of a really good fast bowler,"
Talking about Bumrah, he has an exceptional record in all three formats of the game. The 30-year-old has played 40 Test matches for India and taken 173 wickets. He has also featured in 89 ODIs and gotten 149 scalps. Meanwhile, Bumrah has 89 wickets in 70 T20Is.
Earlier this year, Bumrah was the Player of the Tournament (POTM) as India won the 2024 T20 World Cup. He was the star of India's victories in the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) on Australian soil in both 2018-19 and 2020-21.
