PWR DUPR India Masters Final: The dynamic duo of Armaan Bhatia (India) and Roos van Reek (Netherlands) emerged victorious in the Mixed Pro Doubles final at the PWR DUPR India Masters after beating the Australian pair of George Wall and Danni Elle Townsend at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA) Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.
Bhatia and van Reek started strongly, quickly establishing a lead. Van Reek, despite featuring in back-to-back games, did not show any signs of tiredness, and the Indian-Dutch duo sailed through the first game and won it comfortably 11-5.
In the second game, both pairs traded points at the start. After a brief advantage for Bhatia and van Reek, Wall and Townsend fought back to level the score at 5-5. The set went down to the wire, but the Kangaroos did not relent, eventually clinching it 11-10 to force a deciding third set.
In the final set, Bhatia and van Reek regained their dominance, and what was expected to be a tough fight turned into a cakewalk for Armaan and Van Reek as they gave no chance for their opponents and sailed through comfortably and won it 11:1. Incredibly with this title, Armaan and Van Reek also secured two trophies in the same evening for themselves. While Armaan won the men’s singles final, Van Reek won the women’s doubles title with Kaitlynn Hart.
Armaan’s pairing with Netherlands Roos van Reek worked wonders from the start in the mixed doubles round. The second-seeded Indo-Dutch pair have had a largely flawless run to the final after starting their campaign with a dominant 15-4 victory over the American pair of Alex Hunt and Sofia Sewing. In the quarterfinal, they got the better of the Australian duo of Kaitlynn Hart and Mitchell Hargreaves 11-1, 11-6. In the semi-finals, they defeated Indo-Australian pair of Vishal Masand and Sarah Burr by a comfortable 11-5, 11-1 scoreline. In the final, they will play against the Australian pair of George Wall and Danni E Townsend.
