The fourth day of the first Test between India and New Zealand ended early due to bad light and rain. The umpires stopped the play after the fourth ball due to bad light. Latham and Devon Conway quickly left the field while Team India decided against it. Captain Rohit Sharma wasn't happy with the umpire's decision and the video of his animated chat with the officials went viral. Virat Kohli also had a chat with the umpires.
The players stayed on the field for a few more minutes. The umpires then called for the covers and soon it started to rain. The heavy rain forced the umpires to call off the day's play.
India need 10 wickets
India are still very much in the game and they need 10 wickets to go 1-0 up in the series. New Zealand, on the other hand, need only 107 runs. The NZ pacers have shown that there is much for the fast bowlers on this track and the Indian bowlers can also do wonders. The onus will be on Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj to make most of the conditions early on the final day.
India bowled out for 462
India were bowled out for 462 in their second innings. At one stage, it looked like India might have the luxury of declaring the innings. But the NZ bowlers did wonders with the new ball.
Sarfaraz Khan made a memorable return to the playing XI and played a 150-run knock. Rishabh Pant missed out on a well-deserved century and departed for 99. Matt Henry and William O'Rourke scalped three wickets each.
