Virat Kohli has endured a tough time as his struggle has been quite evident. Except for a century in Perth, the former Indian captain failed to do justice to his potential.
With the Indian Cricket set to enter a transition period, Virat’s position in the team is under severe scrutiny. Alongside Rohit Sharma, Virat’s position in the Test team also is hanging over a thread.
India will not play a Test match until June and it would be pretty difficult for Virat to keep his place in the squad. Virat retired from the shortest format after India lifted the ICC T20 World Cup last year and he is also expected to be in the Indian squad for the Champions Trophy.
Former England cricketer David Lloyd feels Virat has passed his prime and his time is up. In an interaction with Talksport Cricket he said, "Virat Kohli knows he is past his best and that will hurt. When India come to England, you know where he's going to be. Just outside off stump, and the business area will be the slips. At 36 years of age, up in the mind, he knows what he should be doing. Your reflexes gently go. Ponting said he carried on a bit longer than he usually would have. The selectors should know. He is one of the greatest players we have seen but is past his best. The coach Gautam Gambhir will have an enormous say, a big say, because he has been in that dressing room. He has lost time. His time is over,"
