India are all set to return to white-ball action, with a five-match T20I series against England beginning from January 22 (Wednesday). The squad for the series is yet to be announced. However, one name that everyone can expect to be in the side is none other than Arshdeep Singh. He has been a mainstay for India in the bowling department in the shortest format of the game, and enjoyed a brilliant year in 2024. Now, in the series against England, Arshdeep is standing on the verge of becoming the first Indian to achieve a massive feat.
Arshdeep Singh is currently India's all-time second-highest wicket-taker, with 95 scalps to his name. If he takes five more wickets in the series against England, then he will become the first player from India to take 100 wickets in T20Is. In fact, he needs just two more wickets to surpass Yuzvendra Chahal to become the Indian with the most wickets in the shortest format of the game.
Here are the Indians with the most wickets in T20Is:
Yuzvendra Chahal- 96
Arshdeep Singh- 95
Bhuvneshwar Kumar- 90
Jasprit Bumrah- 89
Hardik Pandya- 89
Arshdeep Singh finished as India's highest wicket-taker in T20Is in 2024 with 35 scalps. He was also the highest wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup 2024 with 17 scalps.

Arshdeep Singh Certain To Make India Squad For Champions Trophy 2025

According to a report by The Indian Express, the three pacers who are likely to make the squad for the Champions Trophy 2025 are Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj. Only two out of the three will make it to the playing XI, wit Hardik Pandya acting as the third pace bowler.
If Arshdeep Singh is not ready for ODIs, then the selection committee is also looking at Khaleel Ahmed, as the left-arm pacer has made all the right noises amongst the team management. Mohammed Shami's inclusion in the squad will be subject to his fitness, according to the report.
