Less than a week out from the start of the ASB Classic in Auckland, Kiwi doubles star Erin Routliffe has withdrawn from the tournament.
Routliffe suffered a rib injury at the WTA finals in Riyadh last month and the injury hasn't healed in time for her to return to the court.
Routliffe is currently ranked No. 2 in the world for doubles was set to feature with Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski.
Kiwi tennis fans will still have the opportunity to catch fourth seed Lulu Sun in action on home soil, who is expected to feature on day one of the tournament on December 30.
Another Kiwi to feature in Auckland is 19-year-old Vivian Yang who has qualified for the tournament after winning the wildcard playoff.
Yang beat fellow Kiwi Elyse Tse 1-6 6-2 6-2 in Auckland to secure her spot in the main draw. Tse will advance as a wildcard for the qualifying draw.
The draw for the ASB Classic women will be made this Saturday.
