After losing the second Test comprehensively by 1 wickets against Australia, India would be aiming to get back into winning ways when they take on the hosts at the iconic Gabba Cricket Ground in Brisbane. One of the players who would be looking to perform well for the visitors will be Rishabh Pant, as he returns to the very ground that he played one of the most memorable knocks in Indian Test history. His 89* back in 2021 sealed a famous 2-1 series win for India in the last Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Now, he is on the verge of history at this very ground in the third Test.
Rishabh Pant Needs 88 Runs To Create History
Rishabh Pant currently has 112 runs at the Gabba, which he amassed in the two innings of the famous 2021 Test against Australia. If he scores 88 runs in the third Test, then he will become the first Indian to score 200 runs at the iconic venue in Australia.
On the other hand, Pant needs to score 64 runs in the third Test to become the Indian with the most runs at the Gabba Cricket Ground. He will overtake the legendary ML Jaisimha, who has 175 runs at the iconic Australian venue.
Here are the Indian batters with the most runs at the Gabba:
ML Jaisimha- 175
Murali Vijay- 171
Ajinkya Rahane- 152
Sourav Ganguly- 144
Cheteshwar Pujara- 142
Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi- 122
Rishabh Pant- 112
Virat Kohli Needs One Century To Achieve Rare Feat
Virat Kohli would be aiming to return to form after a dismal outing in the second Test where he scored 7 and 11 runs respectively. If he scores a century in Brisbane in the third Test, then he will become the second Indian after Sunil Gavakar to score five Test hundreds in all the big five Australian grounds. He will be the third away batter to achieve this feat after Gavaskar and England's Alastair Cook.
