Josh Hazlewood IN, 2 Players OUT: Australia's Likely XI For 3rd Test vs Australia At Gabba (Source: AP)

Australia returned to winning ways after suffering a 295-run defeat in the first Test and crushed India by 10 wickets to level the series 1-1 in Adelaide. Australia have not defeated India in a Test series in the last 10 years and the ongoing series stands their best chance to seek revenge for the previous defeats. The third Test will get underway on December 14 at the Gabba in Brisbane and Australia would believe they have a great chance of taking a lead in the series. Australia didn't lose a Test at Gabba between 1988 and 2021 before India defeated them on the 2020-21 tour. Australia also suffered a defeat to West Indies earlier this year at the same venue. The defeats to India and West Indies at Gabba came in January when the pitch in Brisbane was not as lively as in late December. As per the Gabba pitch curator, the pitch in the third Test will have a lot of life, making the fast bowlers absolutely vital.

Australia's Likely XI For Gabba Test

Meanwhile, Australia missed the services of Josh Hazlewood in the second Test due to injury. Hazlewood is likely to return to the XI for the third Test, with Scott Boland making way. Boland had a decent outing in the Adelaide Test, taking five wickets, however, if Hazlewood is fit, he will come straightaway to the XI.
Another change Australia might consider is Nathan McSweeney being replaced by Sam Kontas. Mcsweeney hasn't grabbed the opportunity at the top and with Kontas making a hundred in the practice game for PM XI, there is a good chance that he may replace McSweeney at the top.
Australia's Likely XI For The 3rd Test: Usman Khawaja, Sam Kontas, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon
