Virat Kohli returned to form in the Perth Test match and slammed a century in the second innings. The former India captain arrived at his dream venue, Adelaide after a century and was expected to continue his form. But Virat disappointed in both innings and managed scores of 7 and 11.
Mitchell Starc got the best of Virat in the first innings while Scott Boland dismissed him in the second innings. Soon after India lost the 2nd Test, Virat headed to the nets to kick off preparations for the third Test match.
Sunil Gavaskar was impressed with Virat's dedication despite his failures in Adelaide and asked for Team India to follow him. "By going out in the nets today, shows his dedication. But that is what I would like to see from everybody else. He's not scored runs. He is very proud of what he achieves and does for India, and because he's not scored runs in this game, he's out in the nets," the Indian legend told Star Sports.
"He is working hard, he's sweating, and that is what you want to see. After that if you get out, no problem, because that's what sport is all about. You will get runs one day, will get wickets one day, next day you will not. But you've got to put in the effort. He is putting in the hard yards, he is putting in the effort, and that's why I won't be surprised if he's back amongst the runs in the next game."
The Indian batsmen will have their task cut out in the third Test as a defeat there will hamper their chances of winning the series. The action will now move to Brisbane for the third Test match, to be played from December 14 to 18. It was at this stadium where India won the famous Test in 2021 to clinch the series.
