Ellyse Perry created a world record and etched her name in history books during her century against India women's team in the 2nd ODI of the three-match series in Brisbane on Sunday (December 8). Perry, who came out to bat at number 3, slammed a brilliant 105 off just 75 balls. She batted with a strike rate of 140.00 and hit 6 sixes and four boundaries during her knock.
While Perry was busy scoring runs, she created a world record and became the first cricketer to score 7000 runs and scalp 300 wickets in women's cricket. Perry, who is a complete package on the field, has scored 7080 runs and scalped 330 wickets.
Perry has 928 runs and 39 wickets in 13 Tests. She has scored 4064 runs and dismissed 165 batters in 149 ODIs. The star all-rounder has 2088 runs and 126 wickets in the shortest format.
Perry, who made her Australia debut in 2007, is the backbone of her team and can still play international cricket for another 4-5 years. She will surely aim for the elusive 10000-run mark in international cricket.
India win series in Brisbane
Tahlia McGrath-led Australia clinched the series with a big 122-run win in the second ODI in Brisbane. Courtesy of centuries from Perry and Georgia Voll, the home team registered a big total of 371 on the board.
India were off to a forgettable start and lost Smriti Mandhana's wicket in the fourth over. Harleen Deol scored 12 off 22 balls. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Richa Ghosh brought India back into the game with a 66-run partnership for the third wicket.
Richa's wicket on the final delivery of the 22nd over marked India's downfall and they got bowled out for 249. The Women in Blue lost the first ODI by 5 wickets. The third and final ODI of the series will be played in Perth on December 11.
