Pickleball and Padel are two of the fastest-growing racquet sports in the world. One of the key reasons why the two sports are gaining popularity is their accessibility to people. They don't require a player to be supremely fit, neither players need expensive equipment to enjoy the sport. They are low-impact sports that people of all ages can play without much risk of injury. There is a constant debate about which sport between Pickleball and Padel is better, but there's no clear answer to it. It all depends on the player's preferences, play style, and the context in which the sport is being played.
However, for popular American singer Katy Perry, Pickleball is better than Padel. An Instagram post of Katy recently grabbed eyeballs when she asked fans to change her mind that Pickleball is not better than Padel. On her love for Pickeball, Katy said she inherited it from her mother. “My mom brought (maybe even forced) her love for pickleball upon our family,” she writes on Instagram, “and now we’ve decided to use those pickle powers for good,” said Katy
Meanwhile, earlier in October, Katy Perry & Friends hosted the 2nd Annual Light Up the Court Pickleball Tournament at the Montecito Club in Katy’s hometown of Santa Barbara, CA. It was a charity event where all the benefits went to the Firework Foundation, founded in 2018 by Katy and her sister, Angela Lerche, to empower children from underprivileged communities.
Both Pickleball and Padel have a few similarities in the way they are played, but they have their own uniqueness as well. In terms of similarities, both sports are played with a racquet and on courts smaller than tennis. The key difference between the two sports is that Padel is mostly played in doubles while Pickleball can be played in singles as well as doubles.
