Rahmanullah Gurbaz etched his name in the history books as he continued the stunning start to his ODI career with the 8th ODI century during the 3rd ODI between Afghanistan and Bangladesh at the Sharjah Cricket Ground on Monday (November 11).
Chasing a total of 245 in the series decider, Gurbaz put Afghanistan on track to register a victory with a knock of 101 in 120 balls. After the early departures of Sediqullah Atal, Rahmat Shah, and Hasmatullah Shahidi, Gurbaz held fort and ensured the Afghans did not collapse.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz Creates History

Playing his 46th ODI, Gurbaz hit the 8th ODI century of his career and equalled a massive world record of Sachin Tendulkar and Quinton de Kock. The Afghanistan star now has the joint most centuries in history in ODI cricket before turning 23.

Gurbaz will to get the chance to beat Tendulkar and de Kock's record as this is the last ODI game Afghanistan is playing before the wicket-keeper batter's 23rd birthday (28th November).
The right-handed batter is also the third quickest batter to hit 8 ODI centuries after Hashim Amla and Babar Azam. He is also one of just four players to score eight tons before playing 50 innings.

Gurbaz and Azmatullah Omarzai put up a 100-run partnership of 109 balls for the fourth wicket. Omarzai also hit a half-century and remained unbeaten with a knock of 70 in 77 balls. Afghanistan sealed a five-wicket win with 10 balls to spare and won the series 2-1.
Earlier, a knock of 98 from Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan Miraz's 119-ball 66 helped Afghanistan put a score of 244 on the board. Omarzai was the star of the show for the Shahidi-led outfit with a four-wicket haul.
