The Ajit Agarkar-headed selection committee on Friday (October 25) announced the 18-member squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25. Rohit Sharma will lead India in the complete series and will be assisted by Jasprit Bumrah. India won the previous two BGTs Down Under and will aim to emulate their heroics in tough conditions.
The selectors made a few changes in the squad. While 2 players were dropped, two players were handed their maiden Test call-ups. Here we have a look at complete changes in India's Test squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy -

Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav are members of the present Test team who will not travel to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Axar has been dropped and he has made way for Washington Sundar. The right-arm off-spinner was called into the Test squad for the ongoing Pune Test. Sundar punched his ticket to Australia with a 10-fer.
Kuldeep was unavailable for selection as he has been referred to the BCCI Centre of Excellence for his chronic left groin issue. He was part of the team that won the BGT in 2018/19.

Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy have been handed their maiden Test call-ups while uncapped Abhimanyu Easwaran and Prasidh Krishna have been recalled. Harshit has pipped Yash Dayal for a place in the team. Yash has been named in the T20I team while Harshit is part of the Test squad.
Nitish has been fast-tracked into the Test team as India need a pace-bowling all-rounder. Easwaran has pipped Ruturaj Gaikwad for a place in the national team. He will play under Ruturaj for India A before the Test series.
Prasidh has made his return to the Test team. He has spent plenty of time off the field and will hope to stay fit during the Australia series. The first Test of the series will be played from November 22 to 26 in Perth.
