India are currently taking on New Zealand in the second Test of the three-match series at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. This is a must win game for India as they had lost the first Test of the series, and a win for New Zealand means, the first series loss for India in over 12 years at home. The first Test saw India suffer a horrific collapse where they were all out for 46, registering their lowest ever score at home. In the second Test too, they suffered a collapse in the first innings, where they were all out for 156.
Worse Than 46 All Out: Ian Smith
Legendary New Zealand wicketkeeper Iam Smith, who was on commentary during Day 2 of the match, said that India's collapse in the second innings was worse than the embarrassing 46 all out in the first test. He also blamed India's poor batting and shot selection. He criticized the fact that instead of playing themselves in the Indian batters were going after the bowling.
"Well, this is worse that 46 all out if you ask me. This is some poor batting and shot selection. I can understand the first Test, but instead of playing themselves in, batting for time, India for some reason, are going after the bowling. They think they can just bash this New Zealand bowling line-up. This is only Day 2 of the Test match. There is ample time to go but the way India are playing, none of them are going to be here that long," Ian Smith said.
New Zealand On Top
In the first innings of the game, New Zealand managed o score 259 runs, with Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway scoring half-centuries. It was Washington Sundar who stole the show, as he took seven wickets for 59 runs. India were then bundled out for just 156, with Mitchell Santner picking up seven wickets. New Zealand ended Day 2 on 198/5, with a lead of 301 runs.
