Washington Sundar was simply unstoppable for India on Thursday as he pulled off a sensational spell against New Zealand in the ongoing 2nd Test in Pune at the MCA Stadium to send the visitors packing with a 7-wicket haul. He also became the fourth bowler ever to pick up 7 or more wickets against the Kiwis in the longest format of the game. But at the same time, he also joined an elite list including the great Anil Kumble and Ravindra Jadeja.
Sundar also became the fifth Indian bowler to take 5 scalps through cleaning up the stumps in an innings after Jasubhai Patel, Bapu Nadkarani, Anil Kumble and Ravindra Jadeja.

This was also the 6th instance in Test cricket history that India have taken all the 10 wickets by spinners on the 1st day of a Test in the very first innings.
The other three wickets were taken by Ravichandran Ashwin. He finished with figures of 24-2-64-3, while the 25-year old Sundar walked off the pitch with numbers of 23.1-4-59-7.
Speaking of the New Zealand innings, Devon Conway (76) and Rachin Ravindra (65) were the notable run-getters but apart from them, no one could muster up a proper partnership and eventually were bundled out for 259 runs.
India in reply, didn't have the best of starts as they lost their openers Yashasvi Jaiswal for 6 and Rohit Sharma for the first time in the Test series had to depart for a duck. Shubman Gill, who came in the XI replacing KL Rahul, has so far got 10 runs on the board and he'll be joined by Virat Kohli on the 2nd day.
At stumps, India were at 16/1, trailing by a total of 243 runs.
