Rohit Sharma's India are all set to face an upbeat New Zealand in the second Test of the three-match series starting Thursday in Pune. The Indian team, who have been almost unbeatable at home, fell to an eight-wicket loss in the first Test and the second encounter is a do-or-die game for them, with a series loss at home looming. India haven't lost a Test series at home in the past 12 years.
After being shot out for an embarrassing 46 in the first innings at Bengaluru, India's resolute show in the second innings couldn't prevent an eight-wicket pounding which saw the top-ranked team in the World Test Championship table dropping points even though it continues to hold the top spot.
Weather played a big part in the first Test in Bengaluru, with Day 1 being washed away entirely. Thankfully, forecasts for Pune put up a much better sight.
According to Accuweather, the day will be less humid in Pune with a blend of sun and clouds. There is just a one per cent chance of rain, which means we are up for an entire day of play. There is no chance of thunderstorms.
The afternoon will be partly sunny as well, with a temperature of 32 degrees Celsius.

India's Topsy-Turvy Record In Pune

India have played just two Tests at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, with both leaving contrasting results for the hosts. While India lost the first Test at this venue against Australia by a whopping 333 runs, on the second occasion, they beat South Africa by an innings and 137 runs, with ace batter Virat Kohli scoring an unbeaten 254.

Biggest question: Does KL Rahul feature in the XI?

Coach Gautam Gambhir has expressed his desire to give Rahul a long rope but Sarfaraz Khan has made a strong case with his second-innings 150 in Bengaluru. All eyes will be on India's selection, especially after the thrashing in the first Test.
