PWR DUPR India Masters: Best Players To Watch Out For. (Instagram)

The PWR DUPR India Masters promises to showcase thrilling pickleball action, with top players from across the world competing for glory. It is all set to begin from 24 to 27 October 2024 at the RK Khanna Tennis Stadium, marking the first fully owned and operated event by PWR following the successful launch of the PWR World Tour in July 2024 in Dubai, UAE. This event is a key milestone for pickleball, boosting its presence on both the Indian and global sports landscapes. Among the players to watch out for are Sarah Burr, Sarah Jane Lim, Emilia Schmidt, Mitchell Hargreaves, and Casey Diamond, each bringing a unique skill set to the court.
Sarah Burr: Sarah Burr, who is known as Australia’s most accomplished female player, is a mother of two. She got her first taste of the game in 2021 and since then there has been no looking back for her. Sarah, who is also a primary school teacher, was involved in pickleball training and teaching at school and picked the game from there. She went on to participate in the NSW Pickleball Titles and claimed a silver medal there. Recently, Sarah proved her pickleball credentials at the World Pickleball Championships by winning the women’s singles and doubles and mixed doubles titles.
Sarah Jane Lim: Hailing from the Philippines, Sarah Jane Lim has managed to gather recognition as one of the top international pickleball players. Her swift movement on the court, along with her powerful shots, gives her an edge against her opponents. Sarah hails from the city of Makati and like many others, opted for pickleball after a switch from tennis. She also works as a coach and is presently the No. 1 ranked female player from her country. As per the latest DUPR Ratings, Jane Lim has a rating of 4.623 in the Singles category and a rating of 5.165 in the Doubles.
Emilia Schmidt: Like most pickleball players, the teenaged Emilia Schmidt, from Australia, was also a tennis player before she shifted base when she fell in love the moment she got hold of the paddle.
Mitchell Hargreaves: Mitchell Hargreaves, from Australia, is one of the younger players to take part in the tournament and he too was once a tennis player, who played the sport at a junior level. He picked up pickleball after travelling back to the United States of America. Hargreaves also won a men's doubles and mixed doubles gold at the WPC Series-Asia Pacific earlier last month with Zach Grabovic and Hsieh Yu-Chieh.
Casey Diamond: Rounding out the list of players to watch is Casey Diamond. Diamond is a professional pickleball player and is based out of Tempe, AZ, US. So far, Casey has competed in 29 professional tournaments, In those, he has played in 87 pro matches as of October 2024. He is a player known for strategic mastery and control of the pace of the game. Diamond’s ability to anticipate his opponents’ moves and react accordingly gives him an upper hand in many critical points.
