Virat Kohli Stays, Siraj Gets A Lifeline; Setback For Glenn Maxwell: Report Reveals RCB's Retention Strategy (Source: BCCI/IPL)

RCB have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the IPL. Despite enjoying a massive fanbase, the team is yet to win an IPL title, which comes as a huge surprise given the quality team they have had over the years. One of the main reasons for RCB's lack of success has been their over-dependence on big three or four players which disrupted the balance of the side in quite a few seasons. Will it change for IPL 2025? Probably yes!
With the mega auction coming up, RCB will have to let go of most of their players and come up with a new strategy to compile a squad good enough to win the title. Still, they will have an option to retain up top six players. The current RCB squad has a few good players but will RCB once again put their trust in the players who failed to put up a show last season?
If a report in Hindustan Times is to be believed, RCB is sure about retaining Virat Kohli, and it does not come as a surprise given that Virat has been the face of the franchise since the inception of the league. Mohammed Siraj is another player who has been with the franchise for a while, but he has blown hot and cold over the years. Still, RCB is keen to retain the pacer for IPL 2025.
Glenn Maxwell, though, is all set to be released before IPL 2025, the report reveals. Maxwell had an underwhelming 2024 season for the franchise, scoring just 129 runs in 10 matches and taking just six wickets.
RCB was also keen to retain all-rounder Cameron Green, but his back injury has put the franchise in a dilemma. Green is likely to miss six months of action but could get fit before the IPL 2025. It will be interesting to see if the franchise takes a bet on him or not. The deadline to name the list of retained players is set at October 31. The IPL auction reportedly will take place on November 24 and 25 in Riyadh.
