Amid the speculations going around MS Dhoni's participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as an uncapped player intensifies, there could be a possibility for the former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) man to move to another league other than the cash-rich league of India.
The T10 Leagues has gained promise over the years through the Abu Dhabi T10 league and when the T10 Global Founder and Chairman, Saji Ul Mulk was asked whether 'Thala' could feature in the league or not, he said that it could be a 'possibility' if the World cup-winning captain makes up his mind.
"Absolutely, I think outside of the top level of international cricketers playing, current India internationals are not allowed to play outside of the Indian Premier League. The recently retired players, almost all the big names of India, have come to play T10. So yes, we can expect MS Dhoni to be playing T10 when he makes up his mind," Shaji told ANI.
The 2024 Abu Dhabi is all set to be the biggest-ever edition as a total of 179 stars will be competing. In the past, the likes of David Warner and ex India stars in Robin Uthappa, Suresh Raina and Irfan Pathan also participated in the tournament.
With the deadline for the IPL retentions to announce set at October 31st, CSK would be looking to finalise their list before they head towards the Mega Auction.
But this time around, as per the new rules laid down by the BCCI, each franchise can retain 5 players and can even use the RTM (Right To Match) during the auction, as far as the retentions are concerned.
The first player can be retained in 18 crores, while the second can be procured by 14 and 11 crores respectively and the next slots can be availed by paying 18 crores and 14 crores respectively.
But since, MS Dhoni hasn't played an international match in the last 5 years, even though he retired in 2020, there's a possibility, he can be retained as an uncapped player at a low price of 4 crores.
