The 4th IPA Nationals Pickleball kicked off at Bennett University on January 23. This highly anticipated event, a PWR700 tournament, will bring together players from across the country.
After the stupendous success of PWR DUPR India Masters and FIP Promotion India Padel Open, another pickleball event is all set to storm the country.
Danielle Jones and Dipti Srivastava teamed up together for West Bengal in the competition and they came runner-up in the women’s open team event. In an exclusive interaction with PickleballNow, Dipti opened up on various aspects of the game.
How long have you guys been playing pickleball?
May be February. But we all are former tennis players. We started tennis when we were like 8 or 9.
How did you like the infrastructure at Bennett University?
It’s spread on a large area. It's pretty clean I see good vibes. A lot of people have actually come down to watch the matches. There's padel courts. There's pickleball courts. There's basketball.
I can see football. So, it's kind of vibing, I would say.
What convinced you to switch to pickleball?
For me, I mean, we do play, I do play tennis over the weekends. I'm actually a professional lawyer. I'm a cop lawyer working in a law firm. I love sports. I think sports is ingrained. So, I mean, you see that as a player.
What's your opinion on pickleball's future in India?
It looks very bright, I would say. Because, honestly, anybody here can pick it up. It's a sport that is easy to pick up but difficult to master. So, mastering this sport will require practice. So, anybody who wants to, you know, get to the top and be at the top. you need to put in that effort. So, that's the good part. Anyone can play.
