Mohamed Salah’s future has been the subject of speculation. The Liverpool star has been in sensational form throughout the season, leading the goalscoring charts in the Premier League.
Salah’s contract is up for expiry in the summer and calls have been made to extend the Egyptian’s contract imminently. The 32-year-old has been involved in a whopping 30 goals in the English top flight and will look to add a few more when Liverpool host Manchester United on Saturday.
Salah’s entourage has been in talks with the club over a new improved contract but in a recent interview with Sky Sports, the player confirmed they are far from reaching a consensus regarding his new deal.
"So far, yes. It's the last six months.
"There is no progress there. We are far away from any progress.
"So, we just need to wait and see."
Alongside Salah, both Trent-Alexander Arnold and Virgil van Dijk will also be out of contract in the summer but all the talks have only centered around Salah. The forward was reportedly the subject of a £150 million offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad in 2023 but the Reds rejected their advances.
Salah further added, "The thing in my head is that if this is the last six months, what do you want to see in the future?
"Do you want to look back and say I was concerned or stressed about the contract? Or do you just want to say I had an unbelievable season? That's what is in my head.
"If I ever feel distraction, I just remind myself I want to look back and say I had an unbelievable season. That's what I want to do."
Liverpool are currently leading the EPL table with 45 points and are six points clear of second-placed Arsenal which have played a game more.
