Kamran Ghulam made a memorable Test debut for Pakistan against England on Tuesday, 15th October, when he etched his name into the history books, by becoming the 13th Pakistani cricketer to slam a century in the very first Test match. He is also the first batter from his country to score a hundred on Test debut and only the 2nd ever Pakistani batter to score a century, while playing at the No. 4 slot in the very first outing.
Ghulam came in as a replacement for the 'rested' Babar Azam, who was not named in the Test squad for the 2nd and 3rd Test after a string of disappointing scores in the longest format. The 29-year old made the most of his chances count as he didn't disappoint and came at a time when Pakistan were struggling at 19/2 on Day 1. He finished with a 224-ball 118 before he was dismissed by Shoaib Bashir. He has received widespread praise for his gutsy knock and even Babar on his Insta account congratulated him for the brilliant knock he played.
The fans have pinpointed out on social media that how Ghulam in his very first outing proved his worth, while Babar didn't live up to the expectations in the last two years.
Amidst all of this, there was a time when Ghulam was 'slapped' by Pakistan speedster, Haris Rauf during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match back in 2022.
The match was between Peshawar Zalmi and Lahore Qalandars and both of the cricketers were representing the latter side. In a video shared by the official X account of the PSL showed how Rauf took a wicket during the match and when Rauf and Kamran were celebrating with each other, all of a sudden, the pacer slapped his teammate with an annoyed face, to which the 29-year old batter reacted by bursting into laughter before they once again went on with the celebrations.
Here's a look at the video:-
The reason of the slap was because Ghulam missed a catch, when Rauf was bowling one of his overs and the pacer didn't take it with good sport.
Coming to the ongoing match, at stumps after Day 1, Pakistan were batting at 259/5 with Salman Agha and Mohammad Rizwan at the crease for the home side.
