India skipper Rohit Sharma has said that his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal is a 'real talent' and he is playing for the country because he has come through the ranks and has succeeded. He and Jaiswal have forged quite a chemistry and quite a few good partnerships at the top of the order for India in Tests and will be crucial in the upcoming three-match Test series against New Zealand.
Jaiswal has made a promising start to his red-ball career since his debut during the Windies tour last year. His exploits besides Rohit at the top of the order has ensured that India have got good starts to their Test innings across series.
The prowess was visible when Rohit and Jaiswal scored 50 runs in the third over in their second innings of the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur, as they looked to force a result, in which they were successful.
"He's a real talent. He has got the game to play in all sorts of conditions. He's still new so it's hard to judge. But he's got all the ingredients. He has come through the ranks and has succeeded. That's why he's playing for India," Rohit said while speaking at the pre-match press conference.
The Indian skipper and the prodigal Jaiswal might yet again need to go all guns blazing with the weather forecast in Bengaluru not very promising. There is a 41% chance of rain in the city on Wednesday.
India's practice session, slotted for 9.30am on Tuesday, was first postponed by an hour and then cancelled altogether with the rain showing no signs of relenting. The Indian team was able to eke out a convincing seven-wicket win over Bangladesh in the second Test despite over two days of game time being washed out.
"We'll see how the days pan out. Then we will take a call. In Kanpur, we didn't get the game on two days and then decided to go for the win. I don't know what it is going to be here. We'll see what lies ahead of us and then take a call," Rohit said.
