Not MS Dhoni! Ravichandran Ashwin REVEALS Two Legends Who Called Him After His Retirement
Ravichandran Ashwin shocked fans and the cricketing world when he announced his retirement from all three forms of international cricket all of a sudden after the end of the third Test between India and Australia at Brisbane. Tributes poured in from all corners of the cricketing world for one of the greatest spinners of all time. Ashwin has now revealed the names of two players who have personally called him after his retirement, and MS Dhoni is not part of that elite list.
Ravichandran Ashwin, in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Ashwin revealed that legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar and 1983 World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev were the two legendary players who personally wished him after his retirement. He also shared a screenshot of the same.
"If some one told me 25 years ago that I would have a smart phone with me and the call log on the last day of my career as an Indian cricketer would look like this, I would have had a heart attack then only. Thanks @sachin_rt and @therealkapildev paaji #blessed," Ashwin wrote
What Kapil Dev Said After Ashwin's Retirement
In an interaction with PTI, Kapil Dev expressed his shock at how one of India's cricketers, R Ashwin, decided to hang up his boots. He even claimed that Ashwin looked happy and there was atinge of hurt in his face. He argued that the legendary spinner deserved a much better farewell.
"I was shocked by how one of India's greatest cricketers chose to leave the game. The disappointment among the fans was widespread, but I also saw a tinge of hurt on his face. He looked unhappy, and that was sad. He deserved much better, a fitting farewell," Kapil Dev said.
Sachin Tendulkar's Heartfelt Message For Ashwin
In a heartfelt post on his X account, Sachin Tendulkar revealed that he has always admired how R Ashwin approached the game with his mind and heart in perfect sync. He also praised his carrom ball and his ability to contribute crucial runs lower down the order.
"Ashwin, I’ve always admired how you approached the game with your mind and heart in perfect sync. From perfecting the carrom ball to contributing crucial runs, you always found a way to win. Watching you grow from a promising talent to one of India’s finest match-winners has been wonderful. Your journey shows that true greatness lies in never being afraid to experiment and evolve. Your legacy will inspire one and all. Wishing you all the very best for your 2nd innings." Tendulkar wrote.
