An attempted jewellery heist in Adelaide has failed after a group of would-be thieves were unable to break through the front door.
CCTV footage of the incident shows the armed group trying desperately to break through the 400kg bulletproof glass door early yesterday, 9News reports.
"They're just smashing the place to pieces trying to get in… luckily enough, we've spent a lot of money on glass and security, and they didn't get in," store owner Brad Mucklow told the Australian news outlet.
The group attempted to get through by crawling under the gates of the shop around 2.30am local time.
The trio then broke a side window, but were unable to get inside the store.
"While I was looking in the cameras, my alarm company rang and said there's multiple alarms going off," Mucklow said.
"As soon as that happens, there's problems… so I checked the cameras and could see the place had been vandalised."
The group fled before police arrived on the scene.
They reportedly left behind a backpack, which was found in a garden at a nearby church.
Mucklow said he had just finished renovations at the store three weeks ago.
Workers will be back on site to replace the windows and doors.
