The impasse regarding the Champions Trophy 2025 has finally ended as the tournament is all set to take place in the hybrid model with India playing their matches at a neutral venue. The biggest match in the group stage of the tournament is undoubtedly the clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, who will be facing off for the first time in an ODI since their encounter in the 2023 World Cup in Ahmedabad. With the match supposedly set to take place in a neutral venue, the question on eveyone's minds is where it will take place.
According to a report by news agency IANS, the Champions Trophy 2025 group stage match is set to take place in either Dubai or Colombo. In fact the match is set to take place on February 23, according to the report.
Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has also claimed that the match is set to take place on February 23, which is contrary to earlier reports that March 1 was the designated date for the clash of the two arch-rivals in the Champions Trophy.
However, according to a report by Cricbuzz, the ICC prefers UAE as the ideal venue for all India games including the one vs Pakistan due to logistical issues.

Hybrid Model Confirmed Till 2027

The ICC have confirmed that India and Pakistan will play all their matches in ICC events in a hybrid model in the 2024-27 cycle. This means that India will not travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan will also not travel to India for the Women's ODI World Cup 2025, and the T20 World Cup 2026 (which is jointly hosted by Sri Lanka).
The ICC have also awarded the Women's T20 World Cup 2028 to Pakistan as compensation. However, that tournament too will take place in the hybrid model, as India will not travel to Pakistan.
