Hybrid Model Confirmed For Champions Trophy, India Not To Travel Pakistan Next Year

The Champions Trophy has finally reached a consensus as ICC has reportedly confirmed a hybrid model for the mega event. As per an ESPN Cricinfo report, India's matches in the Champions Trophy will take place in a neutral venue yet to be finalised while Pakistan's matches with India staged on the Indian soil will also be played at a neutral venue.
The venue for India's matches is yet to be confirmed as ICC will have to approve it after the tournament host board extends their proposal. ICC has also confirmed the development stating the Pakistan Cricket Board has also been awarded the hosting rights of the 2028 Women's T20 World Cup.
During the 2024–2027 rights cycle, India and Pakistan matches hosted by either nation at ICC Events will take place at a neutral location.
An ICC statement read, "ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 to be played across Pakistan and a neutral venue
India and Pakistan matches hosted by either country at ICC Events during the 2024-2027 rights cycle will be played at a neutral venue, the ICC Board confirmed on Thursday, 19 December.
"This will apply to the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 (hosted by Pakistan), set to be played in February and March 2025, as well as the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 (hosted by India) and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 (hosted by India and Sri Lanka).
"It was also announced that the PCB has been awarded hosting rights of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2028, where neutral venue arrangements will also apply."
The ESPN Cricinfo report also mentioned that the ICC is unlikely to object to a T20I tri-series between India, Pakistan and another Asian country being hosted at a neutral venue.
