Will Travis Head Miss Boxing Day Test At MCG? Star Australian Batter Provides HUGE Injury Update
Amid the rain-interrupted third Test, Australia suffered an injury scare as Travis Head looked uncomfortable during the second innings. The star batter was seen limping during his brief stay at the crease which intensified speculation about a potential groin injury.
Head also didn’t join his teammates for fielding during India’s batting and that further ignited another injury concern after Josh Hazlewood who is likely to be ruled out for the remainder of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
But in a major relief Head quashed all the rumours citing the concern as a sore. As quoted by Fox Sports he said, “It’s been a big couple of weeks and I’m a bit sore, but I’ll be fine.”
Captain Pat Cummins also later confirmed that the player has a tight quad and the 30 year old is expected to be fit in time for the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.
Head hogged the limelight with another century in Brisbane but persistent rain disruption forced the match to end in a dull draw. If it wasn’t for Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep’s heroics to avoid a follow-on, India would have been in severe danger.
Head is currently at the top of the run-scoring charts in the ongoing BGT with 409 runs and he revealed what has been the secret behind his success.
"I just try to sum up the conditions well. What I've done well this series is assess the conditions. Pleased with the tempo I've batted with.
"Felt like he was back in his rhythm, and he gives me full freedom and confidence knowing he's going to be there for a long while. I feel like I am playing the situation in front of me."
India now will face Australia in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne starting from December 26.
