India will have to chase 275 runs in 54 overs after Australia's early declaration on the 5th day of the third Test at Gabba in Brisbane. Australia could only manage 89 runs at the loss of seven wickets as Pat Cummins invited the Indian players to have a go at the Gabba.
Amid the rain interrupted last day, another injury concern for Australia has emerged as Travis Head looked to be in discomfort while batting in the second innings. A groin injury has been mooted as the cause behind his struggle but an Australian Cricket team spokesperson denies all the rumours. Head didn't take part in the fielding which further intensified the rumours.
Josh Hazlewood was already ruled out of the Gabba Test and his participation in the remaining Border Gavaskar Trophy is also uncertain. Head's potential injury could be a massive headache for Australia as he has been the in-form batter for the home side with two massive centuries in the series.
Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee raised the issue while commentating for Fox Sports during the match.
“There may some worrying signs for Travis Head.
“Just there (while batting), he couldn’t move. We’re hearing a potential groin (injury).
“We don’t know how bad it is … definitely wasn’t moving as freely as he does normally.”
Harsha Bhogle said on Fox Sports, “Even if you’re an Indian supporter … you want to see Travis Head bat in this form.
“Should he have continued batting then if he had a strain?
“Five-Test series, you’ve always got to be ready for the unexpected. Always have a ‘Plan B’ ready for what might come your way.”
