India are currently taking on Australia in the third Test of the five-match series for the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the iconic Gabba Cricket Ground in Brisbane. The match has been an interesting one so far, with the visiting team showing some resilient fighting spirit in a match that has been affected by rain. There are chances that Day 5 of the game might be affected by the Brisbane rain as well, and this will definitely have an impact on their chances of qualifying for the WTC Final.
What Happens If Day 5 Of India Vs Australia 3rd Test Is Washed Out?
If rain washes out the final day of the third Test, then the match will be declared as a draw. In that case the series will still be level 1-1 heading into fourth Test at Sydney. This will mean that India's hopes of directly qualifying for the WTC 2025 final after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will remain intact.
If India manage to win the remaining two matches at Sydney and Melbourne respectively, then they win the series 3-1, and directly qualify for the WTC 2025 final.
However, even if India win one of their remaining two matches and lose one, then they will draw the series 2-2, and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

India Avoid Follow-On On Day 4

Australia scored 445 in the first innings, riding on centuries from Travis Head and Steve Smith, with Jasprit Bumrah managing to get 6 wickets. The Indian batting suffered a collapse, like they have done for the majority of the series. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja scored fighting half-centuries, but as both batters fell, the chances of India avoiding a follow-on looked bleak. However, batting heroics from Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah ensured they scored 252/9 at the end of Day 4 before play was called off due to bad light.
