Ace India batter Shubman Gill was seen singing along and partying with his friends on his 25th birthday on Sunday, September 8. A video, which has now gone viral on social media, shows the youngster and his friends singing rapper Divine and popular Punjabi singer Karan Aujla's song 100 Million. Gill, a Fazilka-born lad, is a known fanboy of Punjabi music and Aujla.
Gill was on Sunday picked for India's first Test against Bangladesh starting September 19. He was in action in the Duleep Trophy as well and led India A in the first match against India B, although he couldn't inspire his team to win.
Gill couldn't score many runs either, with scores of 25 and 21 in the two innings against India B. Watch the video here:
On both occasions, Gill was dismissed by India pacer Navdeep Saini, raising concerns over his form with just 10 days left for the Bangladesh Tests.
Gill had a successful outing against England earlier this year, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer in the five-match series, with 452 runs in nine innings at a stunning average of 56.5.
But Gill's visible weakness to pace in the Duleep Trophy will be of concern, especially against Bangladesh, whose rookie pacer Nahid Rana dismantled Pakistan in their backyard twice in the last two weeks.
Unlike in white-ball formats where Gill is a storm force, he is yet to blaze the Test arena and he has hoped for a turnaround sooner than later.
“In Test cricket, my performance has not matched my expectations so far. But we are going to play 10 Test matches this season, and when I look back after those 10 Tests, hopefully, my expectations will be matched," Gill had said ahead of the Duleep Trophy.
After Bangladesh, India play three Tests against New Zealand, followed by the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under.
