Virat Kohli's form went from bad to worse as the Indian legend bagged another below-par score in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Virat, who has only managed one memorable outing in Australia so far, departed for 3 off 16 balls in India's first innings in Gabba. Much was expected from the former India captain but he failed once again, leaving India reeling at 22/3.
Virat achieved another low after his forgettable outing and became the batsman with the second-lowest average in a calendar year (at least 9 innings) while batting in the top five in the first innings. He averages 13.22. Mohammad Ashraful tops the list. He averaged 9.44 in 2008. KL Rahul sits at the third spot. The former India vice-captain averaged 13.58 in 2018.
Virat's form has dipped of late and he has been struggling for runs. The right-handed batsman only managed to score 93 runs in the home series against New Zealand. He kicked off the Australia tour on a forgettable knock and departed for 5 in the first innings of the Perth Test match.
Virat followed up with a century in the second innings and was expected to continue his form. But he managed scores of 7 and 11 in the second Test match in Adelaide as India lost by 10 wickets.
India struggle in Gabba
India are struggling in the ongoing third Test match in Gabba and they finished the third day with a score of 51/4. After starting India's innings with a boundary, Yashasvi departed on the second ball. Shubman Gill only managed to score 1 before getting dismissed off Mitchell Starc.
He was soon followed by Virat. Rishabh Pant only managed to score 9 off 12 balls before getting caught by Alex Carey behind the wickets off Pat Cummins. KL Rahul (33 off 64) and Rohit Sharma (0 off 6) will kick off the proceedings for India on the fourth day.
