India are currently taking on Australia in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at iconic Gabba Cricket Ground in Brisbane. India are currently toiling hard while bowling first, after play wa washed off after just 13.2 overs of play on Day 2. Inda would be looking at their premier pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep to take the Aussie wickets continuously. However, India will be worried as one of these three bowlers suffered an injury scare during the game.
Mohammed Siraj was bowling the 37th over of the match on Day 2. However, after bowling just two deliveries of the over, Siraj looked in discomfort as he held his knee. In fact, things got serious when it looked like he was having difficulty to bowl. He called for the physio to come and check him. After the physio inspected him, he walked off the field. Akash Deep continued to bowl his over.
Why Mohammed Siraj Walked Off
Siraj walked off the field with what looked like a hamstring issue. This would definitely cause some worry for Team India. The star fast bowlers, however returned to field before the first session got over, which would be some relief for the team. However, Siraj is yet to bowl a single over after returning to the field.
Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar, who was on commentary during this incident opined thatSiraj pulling his hamstring could be because he was in the middle of a lengthy spell. Matthew Hayden, also on commentary, said he had noticed that Mohammed Siraj was bowling at speeds lower than usual throughout his entire spell on Day 2, signalling some discomfort.
Day 1 of the Test match was ashed out after just 80 balls were bowled, with rain setting in at Brisbane. On Day 2, India began on a strong note, as Jasprit Bumrah dismissed both openers Nathan McSweeney and Usman Khawaja early. Marnus Labuscghagne then gave his wicket away to Nitish Reddy. Travis Head and Steve Smith are now building the innings after they were 3 wickets down.
