While Rahul Dravid's older son Samit has already made a big name for himself, having earned a call-up to the Indian U-19 team, the ex-Indian cricket team head coach's younger son Anvay has not taken long to make a strong impression after scoring his maiden century for his state team, Karnataka.
Anvay, the team's wicket-keeper batsman, stepped out to bat at number four during Karnataka's match against Jharkhand in the Vijay Merchant Trophy (U-16 Tournament) at the DVR Ground in Mulapadu. The 16-year-old scored an unbeaten knock of 100 in just 153 balls as his team posted 441/4 on the board to help his side take vital points for a first-innings lead in the drawn match.
Anvay was recently named in Karnataka's squad for the tournament for the first time. Last year, he captained the state in a U-14 tournament.
This was only Anvay's second outing of the season for Karnataka. On his debut for the U-16 team, the youngster scored a half-century in the first innings against Vidarbha before being dismissed for 18 in the second outing.
Anvay's older brother Samit was named in the Indian U-19 team to face Australia earlier this year, but an injury prevented him from making his debut. Samit, who is an all-rounder and bowls pace, had a sensational campaign in the Coach Behar Trophy (U-19 Tournament) with 362 runs and 16 wickets in eight matches.
Samit and Anvay's father, Rahul, is widely regarded as among the greatest Indian cricketers to play the sport. He is one of just two Indians, alongside Sachin Tendulkar, to score 10,000 runs in both Test and ODI cricket.
Rahul captained India for two years and was the head coach of the national team from 2021 to 2024 and guided the team to a historic victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which ended an 11-year drought without an ICC trophy for the Men in Blue.
