Andre Agassi: ‘Pickleball Helped Me Lose 40 Pounds But I Blame Spicy Indian Food for Regaining Weight’.

Tennis legend Andre Agassi kicked off the PWR DUPR India League in a grand event in Mumbai on Friday. During his visit, he revealed how the sport positively impacted his health. However, he also shared in jest that he gained 40 pounds during his time in India, which he attributed to the country's delicious but calorie- loaded food.
Describing the game’s physical demands, Agassi noted, “When I played pickleball there is exhaustion that happens. I also realized this within the last few months I can't go from a pickleball court to a to a to a meeting because I'm so tired mentally too,” he said.
He then credited pickleball for helping him shed 40 pounds but jokingly blamed India's spicy cuisine for the weight that he gained thereafter.
“I'm honestly as tired mentally as I am physically and and it was like I just came out of a swimming pool with my clothes you know I mean that's how much you sweated it helped me lose 40 pounds.
“I mean I should never have had the 40 pounds but I blamed I blame India for some of those pounds by the way especially the spicy stuff but in any case you know again I think pickleball is going to add a great deal to this country,” he said.
Agassi also expressed confidence in the growth of pickleball in India. His personal journey also shows how this emerging sport can blend fun, fitness, and build social connections across the world.
