India would be looking to get back on track after the 10-wicket loss in the second Test at Adelaide when they take on Australia in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the iconic Gabba Cricket Ground in Brisbane from December 14 (Saturday) . All eyes will be on what India's playing XI would be going into the match. One can also expect some changes in the team, especially in the bowling department. One can also expect some changes in the batting order, particularly involving KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma.
Rohit Sharma To Open
If the reports from the practice session are anything to go by, then Rohit Sharma will return to open the batting after dropping down to no. 6 in the second Test. KL Rahul in that case will drop down to no.6. Other than that there might be no change in the batting order. Yashasvi Jaiswal will open with Rohit, with Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant following them. Nitish Reddy is expecte to retain his place as the pace bowling all-rounder at no.7 after showing consistency in the first two games.
Ashwin, Rana Out; 2 Players In
India might replace Ravichandran Ashwin in the lineup, especially after his mediocre performance in the second game. Washington Sundar might come back into the playing XI as he provides batting depth in addition to his spin bowling quality.
India are expected to go with one change in the pace bowling department. Harshit Rana failed to pick any wicket in the second Test, and might be dropped for the third game. Akash Deep has been bowling quite a lot in the nets according to reports, and hence he might come in place of Rana. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will be the two senior pacers in the Indian playing XI.
