IND vs AUS: Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant Approaching Key Millstones Ahead Of 3rd Test In Brisbane (Source: AP)
Australia levelled the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with an emphatic 10-wicket win at Adelaide Oval. The third Test will be played at the Gabba, Brisbane from December 14. India would be upset with how they fared in the Adelaide Test and they'd like to put on a better show at Gabba. The third Test could also see many Indian cricketers achieve significant milestones.
Rishabh Pant was the hero of India's emphatic win in the 2020-21 tour at Gabba and he'd look to replicate his performance in the upcoming Test. If Pant can score 220 runs in the Test, he will enter the list of players with 3000 Test runs. Meanwhile, Pant can also surpass Rohit Sharma in the list of most Test runs against Australia. Pant needs six runs to overtake Rohit Sharma's tally of 717 runs.
Shubman Gill could also join the list of players with 2000 or more Test runs. Gill needs 141 runs to break through the 2000-figure mark. He recently surpassed MS Dhoni's tally of 311 Test runs on Australian soil.
Ace India pacer Jasprit Bumrah is also closing in on several milestones. Bumrah is just 15 wickets away from the 200 wickets mark in Test cricket. Bumrah also needs just six wickets to reach 50 Test wickets vs Australia. Bumrah has played all his Test matches against Australia in Australia thus if he can eight wickets, he will surpass Kapil Dev (51) to become India's highest Test wicket-taker on Australian soil. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj is also just 11 wickets away from reaching the 100 wickets mark in Test cricket.
Australia didn't lose a Test at Gabba from 1988 to 2021 before India broke the winning streak in 2021. Australia also suffered a defeat to West Indies at the venue so India wouldn't be too intimidated by Australia's fearsome record at the venue.
