Bangladesh medium-pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib was seen in a fiery mood during the second ODI against the Windies, as he was seen having a verbal spat with Brandon King, after throwing a ball towards him. The match was being played at the Warner Park at Basseterre in St Kitts and a win in the match handed the hosts an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Coming into the match on the back of a loss in the first ODI, Bangladesh were asked to bat first. They were bowled out for 227 with Jayden Seales picking four wickets. Windies then chased the target down in the 37th over.
In the chase, King and Evin Lewis found boundaries at will and the runs came flying, which disappointed the Bangladesh bowlers. It led to Sakib throwing a ball at the former before getting involved in a war of words.
It was a length ball from Sakib and King guided it back to him. The former picked the ball and threw it at the striker's end and it went on to hit King. Sakib appealed for obstructing the field although King was well within the crease.
The turn of events triggered a war of words between Sakib and King before the umpires came in. Watch the video here:
The Windies won an ODI series against Bangladesh for the first time in a decade on Tuesday. They shot out Bangladesh for 227 in 46 overs and strolled to 230/3 in 37 overs.
The host won the series with a match to spare. “It’s great to see the bowlers bounce back the way they did. Gotta tick boxes and keep improving. We were clinical. We’ve been struggling to win series at home (so) hope to finish 3-0 now," skipper Shai Hope said after the match.
