Smrit Mandhanda etched her name in the history books during the the third ODI between India and Australia at the iconic WACA Stadium in Perth on Wednesday (December 11) with a splendid century as India attempted to chase a total of 299 and avoid a whitweash.
The Women in Blue lost the first two games of the series and conceded a massive total of 298 despite winning the toss and chosing to bowl first. A stunning spell from Arundhati Reddy helped the Harmanpreet Kaur reduce the World Champions to 78-4 but a century from Annabel Sutherland and half-centuries from Ashleigh Gardner and Tahila Mcgrath helped the hosts post a respectable total.
In reply, Smriti Mandhana was India's lone warrior as she scored a century in 103 balls . The Women in blue vice-captain made 105 runs in 109 balls. While she put up a 118-run wicket partnership for the second wicket with Harleen Deol's departure, the visitors' batting collapsed after Deol's dismissal.

Despite India's defeat, Mandhana wrote her name in the history books by becoming the first women's player in history to score four ODI centuries in a year. The 28-year-old made two centuries against South Africa in Bengaluru in June before reaching the three-figure mark against New Zealand at Ahmedabad in October.
Seven players have made three ODI tons in a year in women's cricket; no one had hit four before Mandhana.
