India received a massive setback in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Adelaide Oval when they lost the day-nigh match by a margin of 10 wickets. Rohit Sharma returned to lead the side after missing the first game and did not open the batting. This was because India went in with the pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, who had been so successful in the first Test at Perth. Rohit came in to bat at no.6, but failed in both innings. There have been calls to put Rohit back into the opening slot. The Indian captain has now dropped a hint in a practice session ahead of the third Test in Brisbane, which begins from December 14.
Rohit Sharma To Continue Batting In Middle Order
According to the broadcasters, India went in with an unchanged batting lineup in their first practice session ahead of the Brisbane Test. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal were the first to enter the nets, followed by Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant. This indicates that Rohit would continue to bat in the middle order, giving the pair of Jaiswal and Rahul another chance at the top of the order.
Rohit Sharma himself got out for 3 and 6 respectively in h innings. He thus became only the third Indian captai n o be dismissed for single digit scores on bith innings in a Test match in Australia. The Indian captain himself needs to roar back to form as his showing in the longest format of the game have been pretty lean in the recent past.
Virat Kohli Works On Weaknesses
Virat Kohli also toiled hard during this practice session, as he worked on his backfoot as well as pressing his foot while playing a front foot shot, which has led to his edging the ball at slips.
Kohli too looked out of touch in the second Test as he got out for 7 and 11 respectively in the two innings of the match.
