In a year of the Paris Olympics which generated immese interest from all around the country as several Indian athletes either won a medal or came close as well as the 2024 T20 World Cup in which the Rohit Sharma-led side emerged victorious and ended a 11-year wait for India to win a global title, neither event was the top searched sporting event in the country.
Insted, it was the Indian Premier League which was the top searched sporting event in India this year according to data released by Google. The T20 World Cup was the second most searched sports event while the Olympics were third in the list.

It is worth noting that the Indian Premier League and T20 World Cup were also the most searched trends in 2024 with Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Election Results 2024 third and fourth on the list respectively while the Olympics were fifth.
As far as matches are concerned, India vs England was the most searched term. The two teams played a five-match Test series as well as the semi-final of the 2024 T20 World Cup this year. India vs Bangladesh, India vs Zimbabwe, India vs Sri Lanka vs India, and India vs Afghanistan were the next most searched. India vs South Africa, who played the T20 World Cup final and a four-match T20I was sixth while India vs Pakistan was only the 7th most searched match in the country. Pakistan vs England was 8th on the list followed by Royal Challengers (RCB) vs Super Kings (CSK) and Chennai Super Kings vs Punjab Kings.

Vinesh Phogat finished top of the list of most searched persons in the country with Hardik Pandya fourth in the list. Cricket Abhishek Sharma and Shuttler Abhishek Sharma were 9th and 10th in the list.
